In what's proving a tough week for vintage TV stars, Chad Everett has also died. One obit is here. He is not as significant a figure as Sherman Hemsley (below) but a relatively sturdy actor who managed to have a long career. In his heyday on "Medical Center," which aired from 1969 to 1976, I wasn't much of an Everett fan. He was good-looking, sure, but a somewhat stiff actor, especially in comparison to James Daly. Still -- like another '70s TV hunk, James Brolin -- Everett became a more interesting actor as he got older, more able to bring a sense of humor and a little danger to his performances.
