I was out tonight at the Akron-Michigan soccer game (which Akron won, 7-1, with some of those goals appearing to be payback for the Wolverines' increasingly rough, two-red-card-generating play). So I just checked the waning moments of "DWTS." A few notes after the jump.
Sorry to see Florence Henderson go, and not just because she was not the worst dancer of the night. (That would have been Bristol Palin, who managed to avoid even being in the bottom two this week.) As Henderson said on Monday's show, you try to tango to the "Brady Bunch" theme. And the whole TV-theme idea was a mistake because it shoehorned dances into songs they did not really mesh with. It worked best for Jennifer Grey and for Brandy because they had songs that worked independently of their TV connections: the pop chestnut "Love and Marriage" (used by "Married ... With Children") for Grey and "I'll Be There for You" from "Friends" for Brandy. Even there, I wouldn't say that the performances were their best, and overall the dancing was just not great. And this is a dance show, isn't it?
