David Bianculli Background
The comments section has been cranky just now. So here's the answer to Ian's question -- in a comment below -- about David Bianculli, courtesy of David himself:
I worked as TV critic for the Beacon from 1980-1983 -- and Ohio was only one of three non-NY states at which I worked. After Akron, from '83-87, I worked in Pennsylvania, at the Philadelphia Inquirer (and lived in New Jersey, where I still reside). Before Akron, I worked at two Florida papers: The Gainesville Sun (75-77) and Ft. Lauderdale News and Sun-Sentinel (77-80). At all of them, I was the TV critic. And for the record, there's still a lot about Akron I miss. My buddies in the newsroom (those few who remain). The corn. The warm subs at Primo's. And the brick-lined streets (and my neighbors) on Overwood Road, where my daughter was born. She's now 24, and SHE's in Ft. Lauderdale -- attending law school.
