ESPN’s E:60 Tells Story of Heartbroken Virginia Family and Soap Box Derby

ESPN's award-winning primetime newsmagazine E:60 will tell the story of a heartbroken Virginia family and how competing in the soap box derby helped heal in the episode airing Tuesday, July 19, at 7 p.m. ET.

The All-American Soap Box Derby in Akron, Ohio, is the culmination of the race year for 550 kids from around the world. But for the Brown Family of Culpeper, Va., the 2010 race meant so much more. As E:60’s Chris Connelly reports, Sean Brown was competing in honor of his late sister, Carol Anne, an honor student and cheerleader who had committed suicide at the age of 18. Her parents later dedicated themselves to educating others about bipolar disorder, which they believed their daughter suffered from.
