"Glee" Notes

By admin Published: June 1, 2010

After some recent weeks where the show seemed stuck, tonight's telecast was a good one for the most part ...

It advanced the plot, made good use of music and choreography and had some hilarious stuff. Not to mention a great scene for Jane Lynch; look again at all the emotion crossing her face during "Tell Me Something Good."

Another high point: the use of "Loser." And the counterpoint of the glee club with the self-aware oulless automatons of Vocal Adrenaline. And the choreography of "It's a Man's Man's Man's World" -- weakened only by the vocal by Quinn (Dianna Agron). But she tends not to measure up to other singers in the cast; her "You Keep Me Hangin' On" may well be the weakest cut on the first "Glee" soundtrack. And there was a plot slip of sorts; are we really to believe Puck and Finn are making enough money to pay for all those tires?

But in general this was a pleasure. Now if I can just get P-Funk out of my head before I go to sleep ...
