If I Say "Tossed Salad!" and "Stealing an Apple From a Kid"...

By admin Published: February 3, 2009

Some of you are going to smile and think "Follow That Bird!" The "Sesame Street" movie was a staple around my house when the boys were young (and it made me laugh), the VHS pretty nearly worn out but kept around nonetheless. There has been a DVD release of it some time ago, but Warner Home Video is finally putting it out what looks to be a good package -- and widescreen, which an early DVD wasn't. Full announcement after the jump.

The word:

Sunny days! Warner Home Video (WHV) is releasing the classic family film Sesame Street: Follow That Bird in a newly re-mastered 25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition. The DVD tells the story of Big Bird’s cross country adventure while members of his Sesame Street family set out to find him. Titled Sesame Street: Follow That Bird 25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition, this release will be restored to its original Theatrical widescreen format and will feature collectible packaging as well as all-new enhanced content. This heartwarming film will be available in stores March 24, 2009 and will retail for $19.97 SRP.

The first Sesame Street theatrical movie, Sesame Street: Follow that Bird, takes viewers on a cross-country adventure in search of Big Bird (Caroll Spinney) who decides to run away from home after he’s placed with a foster family of Dodo birds by Miss Finch, a social worker who is convinced that Big Bird should live with his own breed - birds - instead of his diverse family at Sesame Street.

Big Bird attempts to find his way home while friends, Maria, Cookie Monster, Count von Count, Bert and Ernie, Grover, Oscar and several others, set out to find him. Along the way, Big Bird has several exciting adventures and meets a number of interesting characters, but he’s quick to remain on the move because he’s being pursued by the unrelenting Miss Finch. How can he convince her he’s truly happy living at Sesame Street, amongst his eclectic family?

“Follow that Bird is a genuinely funny and moving film with an engaging story and an important message that is certain to capture viewers of every age and every taste,” said Amit Desai, WHV Vice President of Family, Animation & Sports Marketing. He added, “We are delighted to give this family classic the treatment it deserves by releasing it in a re-mastered format for better picture and sound quality with brand new special features and eye-catching collectible packing. No family home entertainment library should be without this wonderful film.”

DVD Special Features Include:
Ø New Interview with Caroll Spinney, Who Plays Big Bird
Ø Jump to a Song (7 Songs Total)
Ø Singalong
Ø DVD-ROM* Enhanced Features: Downloadable Coloring Sheets
