Isabella Gets Erickson WNIR Slot

By Rich Heldenfels Published: November 29, 2012

His show begins tonight. The official word:

Bob and Bill Klaus, owners of The Talk of Akron - WNIR - 100 FM, have selected
substitute talk show host, Jim Isabella, to succeed the late Tom Erickson who passed
away on November 3rd following a sudden illness that started on June 5th.
Jim has been a substitute talk show host for WNIR since July of 2010. He also has
extensive broadcast experience with a number of other Northeast Ohio radio stations and
in Northeast Ohio cable television. In addition, Jim’s media career includes work in
newspapers, most recently at the Akron Beacon Journal and, before that, the Sun
Newspapers chain in the Cleveland area.

Jim was a friend of the late Howie Chizek, WNIR’s legendary talk show host who passed
away suddenly on June 16th , and he enjoyed calling Howie’s show on a regular basis.
During the past summer Jim’s substitution role was greatly expanded as he helped the
station navigate the voids left by the sudden illness of Tom Erickson followed by the
sudden death of Howie Chizek. From that exposure WNIR’s audience became much
more familiar with Jim’s talents and the Klaus brothers received a significant amount of
positive feedback urging them to find a permanent full time position for Jim.

The Jim Isabella Show will be launched on Thursday November 29th. His program will
be broadcast Monday through Friday from 7 to 11 p.m. and on Saturdays from 4 to 7 p.m.
The show is an open- line format that is the only Live and Local general interest radio
program available to listeners in the Akron area and all of Northeast Ohio.
