I took the day off from office work, spending it instead doing yard work. But hardly a day goes by when I don't check certain things on the Internet.
I don't mean the sites I'm constantly going to for research, like www.imdb.com, www.tv.com and www.tvshowsondvd.com, as well as specific network sites, eBay and whatever I turn up on google. I'm talking about ones I check whether I'm working or not, for entertainment and enlightenment. Among them:
www.hollywoodrag.com . Gossip and celebrity photos, both often unflattering. A dandy antidote to the glossy pro-celeb mags.
www.poynter.org/romenesko . Useful links to stories about the news media.
www.tvtattle.com . A collection of links to TV stories and criticism, and so a handy way to see what a lot of my colleagues are up to in one visit. And any day gets better when I find that he has linked to one of my columns or blogs.
www.snowballinhell.net . One woman chronicles her life, work and knitting. It's like a soap opera for me -- and I don't mean to demean it by saying so. Rather, I'm addicted to the stories in it and wait each day for an update.
www.sepinwall.blogspot.com . This is a new one, a just-started blog by my friend and colleague Alan Sepinwall. It's already funnier than mine.
