Dave Smith of Akron won $10,000 on the "America's Funniest Home Videos" that ABC aired on Sunday night, and is now in the running for a $100,000 prize on the show airing Dec. 9. Here, while it lasts, is a clip of the big moment:
You may havee read a few things about Smith, a pastor for The Chapel, in the print HeldenFiles. He at first thought his appearance would air on Nov. 25, only to discover it had been moved to Dec. 2. Then, when he was getting ready to watch last night's show, he learned that local ABC affiliate WEWS (Channel 5) was insteady carrying a Billy Graham special.
"Of all things for a pastor and his family to trumped by!" he said with amusement in an e-mail.
"Thankfully our friends and family were still able to watch it in our home through a video-ichat connection between my MAC and my brother’s MAC in Columbus, he said. "But our phone was ringing off the hook with local friends wondering what was going on. (Both sides of our parents live in NJ, so they were able to watch it as well).
"So, we will be on “again” for the $100,000 show, Dec. 9, 7pm...but who knows. The way our luck is going I wouldn’t be surprise if next week’s show is interrupted by a presidential address!"
