From the show: “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” with Emmy Award-winning host Meredith Vieira will once again team with Netflix, the company that makes movie enjoyment easy, to find contestants in Cleveland, OH for the upcoming ninth season of the hit game show, which will premiere in September. Locally, Millionaire can be seen in Cleveland on CBS19 (WOIO), weekdays at 9:30am.
Contestant auditions will be held on Wednesday, July 14 at Nautica Pavilion at the Nautica Entertainment Complex (west side of the flats, 2014 Sycamore Street, Cleveland, OH 44113, http://www.nauticaflats.com/) beginning at 7:00am, with the last session starting at 11:00am. The audition line will form in the Nautica Pavilion. No one will be admitted in line prior to 6:00am.
Those who audition will have two opportunities to be selected as a Millionaire contestant. In addition to finding contestants for regular episodes of the game show, Millionaire and Netflix will also audition movie trivia buffs for the upcoming sixth annual installment of “Million Dollar Movie Week,” a specialty edition of the game show featuring movie-themed questions.
Two separate written tests will be administered at the auditions. A movie-themed test will be given for “Million Dollar Movie Week” and a test with general trivia questions will be administered for regular episodes. Those people who pass each test will be asked to come back for a short interview with a Millionaire representative.
Pre-registration is not required for the auditions. Attendance does not guarantee admittance and participants will be auditioned on a first come, first served basis. You must be 18 years of age or older, a resident of the 50 United States or District of Columbia and meet all other eligibility requirements, which can be found at www.millionairetv.com.
Over the past five seasons, Millionaire and Netflix have given away an astonishing $1.69 million to contestants featured on “Million Dollar Movie Week” series, including three contestants who each won a quarter of a million dollars! The specialty week is traditionally one of the most exciting series each season, as everyday contestants win life-changing money by answering questions on a topic that they are clearly very passionate about.
Cleveland was one of three cities chosen for traveling auditions to be held in July. Producers will also travel to Las Vegas (Monday, July 12) and Seattle (Friday, July 16). A second round of traveling auditions will be held this fall, with cities and dates to be announced soon.
