Mixed Notes

Tonight's TV includes NBC's premiere of "Camp," a comedy drama starring Rachel Griffiths as the newly divorced operator of a "family camp" -- meaning one that houses parents as well as their kids. The series has more than a little "Meatballs" in it, but I was exhausted before the pilot was over and did not get to two other episodes NBC sent out. The strained attempts at being adult and sharp-witted don't fly.In short, go rent "Meatballs." As for "Camp," it just doesn't matter.

Roger Ebert was famously prolific and not even death has kept him from publishing. The new issue of Poetry magazine, available online, includes Ebert's contribution to a series called "The View from Here," where non-poets write about their feelings for the form. You can read Ebert's piece here. The entire issue of the magazine is here.

In case you missed it, Elisabeth Hasselbeck is leaving "The View" after today's telecast,  for Fox News Channel's "Fox and Friends." She will replace former WOIO anchor Gretchen Carlson, who is getting her own show on FNC. One story on the change is here. has indicated that Hasselbeck was on her way out at "The View" but given time to find a new job.
