The Cleveland International Film Festival has its 2013 lineup online. There have been some gltiches but it now seems to be working, even if a bit slowly. And this year's festival will have a bigger presence in Akron.
Some folks on Twitter have asked why WKYC pre-empted two hours of NBC programming for a "Matlock" movie. To me it looked like the long-common practice of "make-good theater," pre-empting network shows usually in rerun in order to sell more ad time or make good on guarantees to advertisers from shows that did not live up to expectations. That said, the Hollywood Reporter has WKYC GM Brooke Spectorsky saying this was an homage to Andy Griffith because of his being snubbed at the Oscars' "In Memoriam" segment. It's an inventive explanation, though not a convincing one.
I await tributes to Larry Hagman and Donna Summer, among others snubbed.
