Lots of bits and pieces, including this funny video...
This week's mailbag is here.
The "Scandal" season-one DVD arrived on my desk today. (On sale June 12.) Managed to get the phrase "gladiators in suits" on the back cover twice. We know. The only TV phrase more nailed into my head this year was "I'm a mother looking for my son."
Phillip Phillips' victory single cracked the top 10 on the Billboard charts, first victory song to do that since 2008. Details here.
The Jacksons have canceled a local show in June "due to scheduling conflicts." Which I think means that all the potential ticket-buyers scheduled something else that day.
Also, Gotye (which I always want to pronounce "got-ya") will play the Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica on Sept. 16. Tickets go on sale June 8.
Still more evidence of the importance of "The Avengers": It helped Disney recover from the financial disaster of "John Carter." Story here.
I will have some thoughts about "Snow White and the Huntsman" here tomorrow. But, since it co-stars the oft-maligned Kristen Stewart of "Twilight" fame, I want to recommend "Welcome to the Rileys" (available on DVD, Netflix, etc.). It's an uneven movie but the acting is solid, including by Stewart. So the "Twilight" films in particular are not the best basis for judging her ability (or any other performers').
