Mixed Notes - Oct. 21

By Rich Heldenfels Published: October 21, 2012

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the first time I voted for a presidential candidate. The candidate I chose was George McGovern, who has now died at the age of 90. Since then, I have voted for many candidates in local and national elections and primaries, but I still think of that first vote, how meaningful it was to step into that voting booth, and how happy I was -- and am -- to have cast that vote for McGovern. Even if he did not win, he was an honorable man, certainly more so than the one who defeated him.

Today's DVD/Blu-ray column, talking about a bunch of recent movies of varied quality, is here. A list of titles coming to video on Tuesday is here.

Today's Channels cover is about DL Hughley's new special, a funny and smart consideration of why African-American men could be classified as an endangered species. You can read it here.
