In case you missed them, I have had recent stories about the Chardon Polka Band, which is making a foray into reality TV, and Steve Olson, who is on one of the ads competing for a Doritos Super Bowl spot.
I also wrote about the documentary "Salinger," airing in an extended version on PBS.
And I have this week's video column.
Saturday was quite the outing, with two University of Akron basketball games (the men lost, the women won) and seeing "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit." The movie was not terrible, but I'd rank it fifth among the Ryans to date. In descending order I have them: "Clear and Present Danger," "The Hunt for Red October," "The Sum of All Fears," "Patriot Games" and "Shadow Recruit."
And the basketball watching should remind you that I am teach at Akron, have a degree from there and am married to a UA staffer. So it is disappointing when I see one of my colleagues referring to the mascot Zippy as "he."
Zippy's a girl. Note the pouch.
