Mixed Notes Tuesday

By Rich Heldenfels Published: February 19, 2013

This week's DVD and Blu-ray column, including some thoughts about "Argo" and the second season of "Game of Thrones," is available online here.

The CW premieres its new drama "Cult" tonight. I watched it some time ago and thought it atrocious -- incoherent, silly, excessive. I did not see fit to revisit it more recently. Save yourself.

Publicists know that writers love a local angle, and I can't help but admire a rep for "Who Wants To Be a Millionaire" for seeking my attention with a question from today's telecast featuring Sen. Rob Portman. Here's the question; I leave it to you to figure out the answer:

After a kayaking accident in Chile, Ohio Senator Rob Portman purposely slammed his dislocated shoulder into a rock, a trick he said he learned from what film?
A: The Rock
B: Lethal Weapon 2
C: Die Hard 2
D: Con Air

As noted here before, Robin Roberts returns to "Good Morning America" on Wednesday. Here's a little from ABC News about the return:

I have visualized this moment,” Roberts, 52, told her “GMA” co-anchors in a candid conversation. “It’s something like this, looking into Sam’s blue eyes. …I love how we’re sitting, how we would be sitting. …But I know when I sit back down, right in this chair, and I look over and I see you and I see you and I see you and I see you, it’s gonna be, all is right in the world. And it’s gonna seem like no time has passed at all.”

Roberts’ comeback to “GMA” Wednesday is five months to the day since she underwent a bone marrow transplant to treat myelodysplastic syndrome or MDS, a rare blood disorder, and a year after she began to first feel the symptoms of her illness.

She will share her personal journey battling MDS on a special edition of “20/20” Friday at 10 p.m. ET.
