Mixed Notes Wednesday

By Rich Heldenfels Published: March 6, 2013

You may have seen my and others' tweets yesterday about Kevin Costner starring in a movie about the Browns which was originally going to be a movie about the Bills. If not, the story I wrote for today's Beacon Journal is here. And the Buffalo News story that started the local talk is here. Still hoping for more info and insight from the Greater Cleveland Film Commission.

Cleveland's own Bob Hope may have been old-school as a comedian in his later years, but he wasn't when it came to home design.

"American Idol" is at a lumbering point -- 10 singers' individual performances stretched across two hours thanks to profiles, judges' comments and, of course, commercials; the women performed last night and the men tonight. My preferences among the women: Amber, Angie, Candice, Kree and Tenna. I expect some disappointment when the results are announced.

CBS has announced the first batch of perfomers for the Academy of Country Music Awards. The official word: Luke Bryan, Kelly Clarkson, Hunter Hayes, Blake Shelton, George Strait, Carrie Underwood and The Band Perry are scheduled to perform on the 47th ANNUAL ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS, co-hosted by Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan. This is the first round of artists announced as performers on this year’s broadcast. The ceremony, which honors country music’s top talent as well as the industry’s hottest emerging artists, will be broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas Sunday, April 7 (8:00 PM-11:00 PM, live ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network.
