Those of you who remember Buchtel High grad Leon Harris, formerly of CNN, will want to take a look at this dramatic account of his recent illness and recovery; (Video above, text and video at the link.)

 Podcaster and multi-platform friend Kevin Lockett interviewed me not long ago about various pop-culture matters and has posted the interview in two parts here and here. Why two parts? Because once I get going, I can't shut up.

Cher is among the coaches on the fifth season of "The Voice" beginning Sept. 23. Here's some of the official word:

Cher is set to work alongside coach Blake Shelton, Ed Sheeran will join forces with coach Christina Aguilera, Ryan Tedder will work with coach Adam Levine and Miguel will team with coach CeeLo Green.

Aguilera (@xtina), Levine (@adamlevine), Green (@ceelogreen) and Shelton (@blakeshelton) represent a reunification of the original “Voice” coaches who appeared on the series for its first three seasons. Carson Daly (@carsondaly) once again returns as host.

Elton John will play in honor of Liberace (recently revisited in the HBO movie "Behind the Candelabra") at the Emmys. The official word:

For the first time ever, legendary solo artist, Elton John, will perform on the Primetime Emmy® Awards stage. The multiple Grammy Award winner’s performance will pay tribute to the late world-renowned performer, Liberace, whose HBO biopic, “Behind the Candelabra,” is nominated for 15 Emmy Awards this year. This performance will accompany previously announced presenters Michael Douglas and Matt Damon, who are both nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for their roles in the movie. The 65TH PRIMETIME EMMY® AWARDS will be broadcast live across the country 8:00-11:00 PM, ET/ 5:00-8:00 PM, PT from NOKIA Theater L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles, Sunday, Sept. 22 on the CBS Television Network.

While John has played more than 3,500 concerts in his career, this marks his first appearance at the Emmy Awards.  John’s upcoming album, The Diving Board, his first studio album in seven years, which is produced by T Bone Burnett, will be released on Sept. 24.

The 65TH PRIMETIME EMMY AWARDS is executive produced by Ken Ehrlich. Host Neil Patrick Harris and Renato Basile serve as producers and Louis J. Horvitz is director. If you plan to Tweet this story, please include #Emmys and mention @primetimeemmys, the official Emmys Twitter handle.

Tina Fey will host the season premiere of "Saturday Night Live" on Sept. 23, with musical guest Arcade Fire. Miley Cyrus, Bruce Willis and Katy Perry are also set for telecasts. The official word:

SNL enters its 39th season on September 28 with the Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning Tina Fey returning for her fourth appearance as host.  Arcade Fire will also return for their fourth appearance as musical guest.  The Grammy winners’ upcoming album is due out October 29.

On October 5, Miley Cyrus returns to SNL to pull double duty as host and musical guest.  Cyrus’ newest album, “Bangerz” will be released October 8, featuring double-platinum lead single, “We Can’t Stop" as well as her brand new single "Wrecking Ball."

On October 12, blockbuster star Bruce Willis will return to Studio 8H for his second appearance as host. Katy Perry will make her second appearance as musical guest.  Perry's upcoming album, "Prism" has already spun the Billboard Hot 100 number one single, "Roar."
