Q92 Issues Tepid Apology for Personality's Insensitivity

By Rich Heldenfels Published: January 29, 2013

Earlier today I was forwarded an email about Alliance-based radio station Q92's Mo and his treatment of a young woman with Down Syndrome who called the station by accident and was mocked repeatedly by Mo. You can read the text and a transcript here. I called Q92 earlier today about the issue and left a voicemail for the GM. This afternoon I received an email with the following statement from Tzangas Plakas Mannos Ltd., a law firm that said it represented the station:

Q92 and The Mo Show would like to take this opportunity to reaffirm its support of efforts to raise awareness regarding the challenges faced by those with developmental disabilities. Specifically, the station wishes to sincerely apologize again for any actions or comments that could be construed as making light of the challenges faced by persons that are developmentally disabled or casting those persons in any humorous light. The station’s policy is to treat our callers and listeners with the utmost respect, professionalism, and sensitivity.

"Could be construed," eh? Not much regret there.
