Reading Ratings Numbers

By Rich Heldenfels Published: March 12, 2013

For your possible amusement, here are the releases CBS and Fox sent out regarding last week's numbers, . As you can see, their interpretations of the same data are different.  I could complicate this even more by throwing in some cable numbers, particularly for "The Bible." And local numbers are subjected to even more analyses. But here's one look.

CBS's release is first, followed (many words later) by Fox's.

CBS:

Led by NCIS, CBS had the week's top five series in viewers for the first time this season and the top two series in adults 18-49, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending March 10, Week 24 of the 2012-2013 television season.
