The actor, known for "The FBI" and "77 Sunset Strip," has died. He was 95 and still vigorous, playing golf and workiing in his garden, according to reports. In recent years, I had seen him mainly on Christian programming. For others, he was the earnest, always-wearing-his-suit-jacket fed on "The FBI," noteworthy for presenting agents as J. Edgar Hoover saw them. But for many of us, Zimbalist is best remembered for "77 Sunset Strip," the Warner Bros. private-eye series with sharply dressed gents (mainly Zimbalist and Roger Smith) and the slang-spouting car-valet Kookie (Edd Byrnes). I offer the above for your time-capsule pleasure.
