The official word: The Lake County Captains, the Class A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, has announced that “The Sandlot 20th Anniversary Tour” will be coming to Classic Park on Friday, July 12. The Director and Narrator of the movie, David Mickey Evans, will serve as the host for the evening.
The Sandlot is an iconic coming-of-age film about a group of young baseball players in the summer of 1962. (RICH NOTES: A 20th-anniversary Blu-ray was released in March, and the July 8 issue of Sports Illustrated includes a "where are they now" piece on the cast.)
The gates will open at 5:30 PM with several The Sandlot related activities planned and the movie will be shown on the Classic Park video board at 8 PM. Tickets for the event will be $7 in advance or a family four package will be available for $20. All tickets will be $10 the day of event and the family four pack package will not be available that day. Tickets are available at the Captains website at www.CaptainsBaseball.com, the Classic Park Box Office or by phone at 440-954-WINS (9467).
Evans will be meeting fans and signing autographs on the concourse from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM and also from 8 PM until 10 PM. He will host The Sandlot trivia with fun giveaways from 7:40 PM until 8 PM.
The Captains Kids Zone inflatable area and playground will be open with an all-you-can-play wristband available for $5.
Fans in attendance will have access to the Classic Park outfield grass area to play catch and watch the movie. Merchandise related to The Sandlot will be on sale, including The Sandlot 20th Anniversary Blu-ray + DVD combo pack.
No food or beverages will be allowed into Classic Park and a limited concessions menu will be available at the Classic Park Concession Stands.
A portion of the proceeds from the evening will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Cleveland and “The Sandlot Baseball Field Program”.
Parking for the event is free in the Captains Gold Lot.
