Full announcement after the jump (including the references to the women -- one 28 years old -- as "girls").
After thousands of auditions in six cities and the grueling callback performances in Las Vegas, the judges of summer’s hottest show, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, announced this season’s Top 20 finalists: (girls) Rayven Armijo, Comfort Fedoke, Courtney Galiano, Susie Garcia, Chelsie Hightower, Jessica King, Kourtni Lind, Kherington Payne, Katee Shean and Chelsea Traille; (guys) Joshua Allen, Jamie Bayard, Twitch Boss, Marquis Cunningham, Matt Dorame, Chris Jarosz, Thayne Jasperson, Mark Kanemura, Gev Manoukian and Will Wingfield.
The competition intensifies and finalists dance their hearts out on the season’s first performance show Wednesday, June 11 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). The Top 20 are paired into 10 couples who will work with top choreographers to learn a dance routine from a wide variety of genres, including Hip-Hop, Broadway, Disco, Ballroom and more. The fate of these 20 finalists – one of whom will be the named America’s Favorite Dancer – will be left up to the fans’ votes. After the Wednesday performance shows, the phone lines will open and viewers can vote for their favorite couples.
On the live results shows beginning Thursday, June 12 (9:00-10:00 PM ET live PT/tape-delayed), the three couples with the lowest number of votes will be announced. Each dancer in those three couples will have one last chance to impress the judges with a solo performance of his or her choosing. After all six dancers have performed, the judges will offer their critique and then send one male and one female dancer home.
Thursdays will also feature live performances by today’s hottest music stars and dance acts. On Thursday, June 12 (9:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) Grammy-nominated dance-pop superstars The Pussycat Dolls will perform their new hit single, “When I Grow Up,” live from the SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE stage. Additionally, Thursday’s show will feature a special performance by The Electric Boogaloos – Popin Pete and Shonnie, the original popping dance team.
