The musicians -- with roots in Cuyahoga Falls and Walsh Jesuit High School -- did not get enough votes on the NBC show to advance to the next round. They had performed Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time" on Tuesday's show and they weren't very good. And the judges so observed. There were some positives on Wednesday's show. Piers said "I've absolutely loved your act" in the past. And Debra Romer, the singer who did advance from their group of three acts (and whose limitations Tuesday were at times covered by backup vocalsts), said Strange Familiar was one of the acts she was most afraid of being up against. But Piers also wondered if SF's Kira Leyden would do better as a solo act.
Besides Romer, the other semifinalists selected last night were dancers Haspop and Studio One Young Beast Society. The final selection came down to stunt rider Jeremy Vanschoonhoven and belly dancers Kaya & Sadie; Sharon and Piers both voted for Jeremy, which put him through to the next round, after which Howie indicated he would have picked Jeremy, too.
