Links to stories on many things -- Richard Chamberlain, Chrissie Hynde, Roscoe Orman and more -- in today's Beacon Journal:
Roscoe Orman -- Gordon on "Sesame Street" -- was in town, and we chatted about his life and being a "Sesame Street" dad. Story here. Enjoyable time.
Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders is one of Akron's own. She has a home here and not long ago opened a restaurant, Vegiterranean. She was out and about Saturday to support the mayor against an attempt to recall him, and I attended the rally, chatted with her briefly and followed her as she did some door-to-door campaigning. That story is here. Given Hynde's image as a tough, outspoken, sometimes controversial rocker, it was pretty interesting to see her in a different context -- warm, approachable, and great with kids.
Richard Chamberlain arrives in town Tuesday as part of the "Spamalot" tour. That's also his 75th birthday. Interview here.
The weekly DVD column, this time including "Slumdog Millionaire" and Warner Bros.' intriguing special-order approach to DVD distribution, is here.
I wrote a cover piece for our TV supplement about "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency," which premieres tonight on HBO, but did not see it online. In any case, I like the show a great deal and recommend it.
