Hailed as “the best show in the history of television” by MSNBC, HBO’s Peabody-winning series The Wire comes to a gripping conclusion with The Wire: The Complete Fifth Season. Having explored the fundamental political, economic and social realities of Baltimore in previous seasons, the final season focuses on the media – specifically the role that newspapers play in the twisted bureaucracy of big cities. Loaded with bonus features, HBO Video’s The Wire: The Complete Fifth Season 4-disc set will be in stores on August 12, 2008.
Centering on a newsroom, The Wire: The Complete Fifth Season examines how a Baltimore national newspaper addresses – or fails to address – what is really going on in the city, while also resolving storylines of numerous characters depicted throughout the series. The Wire is the creation of David Simon (Emmy® winners Homicide: Life on the Street, HBO’s The Corner). Returning cast regulars include Dominic West, Sonja Sohn, Lance Reddick, Wendell Pierce, Deirdre Lovejoy, Clarke Peters, Reg E. Cathey, Domenick Lombardozzi, Seth Gilliam, Jamie Hector, Michael Kenneth Williams, John Doman, Andre Royo, Corey Parker Robinson, Tristan Wilds, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Jermaine Crawford and Isiah Witlock, Jr. New cast regulars in season five include Clark Johnson (Homicide: Life in the Streets), Tom McCarthy (Year of the Dog), Neal Huff (Michael Clayton), Michel Kostroff (The Closer) and Michelle Paress.
