I have a few comments about "American Idol" in a previous post (and am very interested in how y'all are reacting). Malcolm Abram and I will be doing our weekly "Idol" video this afternoon, so look for that on Ohio.com later today. Also, Lynne Sherwin and I are recording our weekly "Dancing With the Stars" chat later today, so that will be coming to.
Here's how Fox described last night's events -- and next week's:
Finalist Michael Lynche was saved from elimination tonight by the AMERICAN IDOL judges after he received the fewest of America’s votes. Lynche will continue in the competition as he takes the stage with the remaining finalists on next week’s performance show.
On Tuesday, April 13 (8:00-9:28 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed), Adam Lambert will appear as a guest mentor and help the Top 9 finalists – Crystal Bowersox, Lee DeWyze, Andrew Garcia, Casey James, Aaron Kelly, Michael Lynche, Siobhan Magnus, Katie Stevens and Tim Urban – prepare for their performances.
Tune in the following night, Wednesday, April 14 (9:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed), to see Lambert perform his hit “Whataya Want From Me” and to find out which two contestants will be going home.
And Bruno Tonioli stopped by "Lopez Tonight," where he had a few words about Kate Gosselin and Pamela Anderson. From a show-provided transcript:
"Kate is pretty dreadful. She's crap. But in a nice way. She is entertaining. People like disaster movies. We've got our own disaster movie there everyday. 2012 is nothing compared to the catastrophe she produces. She is a tough cookie. She gets it in the face, she comes back and she tries to get better...it doesn't really work..."
"There are people you don't expect to be good. I thought Pamela Anderson was going to be terrible...all she is gonna do is lay back and show her ___ and get on with it but she's not. She's good. Forget about the bombshell. Forget about the sex...she actually comes out and delivers a performance full of content and she works very, very hard and she is good at it."

This week's mailbag, with a lot about 3-D movies (and the expense of seeing them), is here.
A review of "Defendor," an interesting movie that should have been more widely seen, is here.
