Thank you to the Copley High School journalism class for a good conversation this morning.
Coming up on "American Idol": "The Top 6 finalists – Crystal Bowersox, Lee DeWyze, Casey James, Aaron Kelly, Michael Lynche and Siobhan Magnus – will take the stage Tuesday, April 27 (8:00-9:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX to perform selections from the Shania Twain songbook with help from guest mentor Shania Twain."
And for "Glee" fans: "FOX will once again pay homage to Madonna and her music with a special encore airing of GLEE’s “The Power of Madonna” episode Friday, April 23 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT)."
You may have seen today's story about the hiatus for "NewsNight Akron." Western Reserve Public Media has also created a site, http://www.newsnightakron.org, where people can post suggestions for the show as it plans an overhaul. The site is up and running (and a bit premature about the show's hiatus, since there is one more telecast scheduled before the break.)
By the way, there has been some question about how popular the show is relative to other programs on the station. So I asked where it stands and here's the answer:
NewsNight Akron used to be our top public affairs program; it hasn’t been for quite a few years now. Overall, it ranks 174th out of 240 program that air on WNEO.1/WEAO.1.
Our top programs are Antiques Roadshow (multiple airings in the top position), Nova, Nature, American Masters and American Experience. No local programs are anywhere near the top. (That doesn’t mean that we don’t think they’re important, though!)
And today's mailbag column is here.
