Discovery Channel will replay "Adrift: 47 Days with Sharks" at 4 p.m. Sunday. The telecast of the 2012 program is in memory of Louis Zamperini,, who died Wednesday. Zamperini was a subject of "Adrift," part of a rich and colorful life which inspired Laura Hillenbrand's book "Unbroken," which Angelina Jolie has turned into a movie due in December.
You may remember a previous note here when a Vivian Maier exhbiti came to Cleveland. The photographer will be showcased closer to home. in Canton, soon, as will her biographer John Maloof. The official word:
Vivian Maier: Photography’s Secret Master will open at 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 31 at the prestigious Joseph Saxton Gallery of Photography, 520 Cleveland Avenue NW, Canton. Maloof will be present, to sign his book, discuss the 30-piece photo exhibit and escort people to a viewing of his film, Finding Vivian Maier, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Canton Palace Theatre (605 Market Avenue North, Canton).
A question/answer session will follow the film. Cost: $5. A second visit with Maloof is also scheduled for Saturday, August 2, with opening remarks at 2 p.m., followed by the film.
The photo exhibit as the Saxton Gallery will remain up until December 31, 2014. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday from noon – 5 p.m.
