Wednesday Notebook

By Rich Heldenfels Published: March 7, 2012

If we are going to talk about Peyton Manning today (and it even crept into some post-Super Tuesday discussion on one of the news networks this morning), then we have to talk about one of his greatest TV moments: the "Saturday Night Live" sketch embedded above.

Other viewing: If you missed last night's "Justified," catch up. Best episode of the season so far -- twisty, strongly character-based and still has me wondering where it might go.

Also, I am ever more enjoying "Smash." (Caught up with Monday's episode, the first I had not seen, off the DVR last night.) Maybe it's just me, but much of the time the music is far less interesting than the characters. Still, last night, the integration of the big musical number with the conflict in the rehearsal was especially well done thematically and in its execution. I am definitely on board for the rest of the season.
