Sophomore pitcher Brian Clark was named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District First Team Thursday, announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Clark, a left-hander, leads the Golden Flashes in saves this season with six, owns a 2.11 ERA and a 1-2 record in 18 appearances this season. Clark carries a 3.90 ERA and is majoring in exercise science.
Clark is one of 11 student-athletes to earn First Team honors in NCAA Division I District 5. He has advanced to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot where first, second and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
In 2012, Clark was named a Lousiville Slugger Freshman All-American and was Second Team All-Mid American Conference.
