Dave Carducci of the Record Courier reports that former Crestwood star Alan Vanderink is embracing his role as he returns to his high school position of running back. Ideally, Vanderink could be a change of pace third down back that can catch the ball out of the backfield. He is also eager to make his mark on a special teams unit that cost the Golden Flashes in past seasons.

The Kent State softball team split a doubleheader at Robert Morris yesterday. The team's offense exploded in an 11-0 game 1 victory. In game 2 KSU fell 8-5. Robert Morris took advantage of three unearned runs.
The Golden Flashes (11-15) resume MAC play on Friday with a doubleheader at Miami of Ohio.
