Flashes play three games at No. 4-ranked Louisville this weekend

Per a KSU news release: Kent State (1-7) will make the trip to No. 4 Louisville (7-1) for a three game series beginning on Friday (Mar. 1) at 4:00 pm EST. They play at 2:00 pm EST on Saturday (Mar. 2) and Sunday (Mar. 3).

Kent State: #31 RHP Tyler Skulina (0-0, 2.08 ERA, 11 SO, 6 BB, 2 GS, 13.0 IP)

Louisville: #24 RHP Chad Green (1-1, 1.64 ERA, 5 SO, 1 BB, 2 GS, 11.0 IP)

Saturday, March 2

Kent State: #25 RHP Taylor Williams (1-0, 2.57 ERA, 13 SO, 2 BB, 2 GS, 14.0 IP)

KENT STATE - LOUISVILLE HISTORY

• In 25 all-time meetings, the Cardinals hold a 13-12 edge over the Flashes.

• They last met in 2011. Lousivlle swept a weekend series at home, 3-2 (11 innings), 5-3 and 1-0. The Cardinals also won 11-2 in a later home game.

• In those four games, Evan Campbell hit .316 in four starts with a double. Derek Toadvine also started all four games, hitting .133.

• The only current Kent State pitcher that face Louisville in 2011 was Spencer Bryant. He pitched two innings allowing five hits and two runs.

• Kent State's last victory against Louisville was a 9-0 victory to end the road series 1-2.

FRESHMAN PHENOMS

• Kent State's freshman played key roles in the opening eight games.

Zarley Zalewski hit 4-for-5 in his first career game at UNC Wilmington.

Justin Wagler has a double, two triples and a homerun in 28 at-bats.

• The two are hitting a combined .310 and have scored 10 runs and picked up five RBI.

• Redshirt Freshman Eli Martin has a 0.00 ERA through four innings in relief this season. He has allowed two hits and two unearned runs with two walks and three strikeouts.

INJURY UPDATE

• All-American Senior George Roberts underwent successful surgery on his hamate bone in his wrist last Friday (Feb. 22).

• His return is unknown, but it is hopeful he will back in the lineup for the start of conference play.
