Former KSU QB McDaniels joins Broncos staff
Denver Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels, 32, just hired younger brother Ben, 28, as an offensive assistant. Ben McDaniels was, like Josh, a quarterback at Canton McKinley High School. Ben went on to play quarterback at Kent State before becoming a graduate assistant for Glen Mason at Minnesota.
Most recently, Ben was on the sidelines with father Thom McDaniels at Massillon Jackson High School. Ben was a quarterbacks coach there.
Konz granted fifth year
Kent State senior tight end Jameson Konz, a graduate of Lake High School, has been granted a fifth year of eligibility by the NCAA. Konz, who was expected to be a huge piece of the KSU offense last season, missed the enitre season after injuring his ankle in the season opener against Boston College.
"Obviously, we're very pleased that the NCAA granted Jameson another year of eligibility," KSU head coach Doug Martin said in a press release. "We were counting on him to be a big part of our offense last year and it¹s great that he'll get a chance to show what he¹s capable of doing for us in 2009."

Ball State's Davis will enter NFL draft
Ball State quarterback Nate Davis won't be around to tear apart the Kent State defenses anymore. The junior will enter the NFL draft according to this ESPN report.
Davis is the younger brother of former Kent State quarterback Jose Davis, who holds a plethora of KSU passing records.

Volleyball players earn All-Academic honors
Kent State seniors Ashley Feutz and Vaiva Laniauskas were named to the 2008 Volleyball Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team Monday. Feutz, an outside hitter, is a two-time honoree with a 3.24 GPA. She majors as an intervention specialist.
Laniauskas, a libero, is also a two-time honoree. She holds a 3.97 GPA. Her major is educational studies.
