Senior Jason Patton was one of six players around the country to be named a Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week, as reported by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. Patton was on fire last week. He went 10 for 20 with 4 home runs, 10 RBI and 11 runs scored. In victories last week Patton had his first career multi home run game vs. Youngstown State then hit his first career grand slam vs. Ohio. In Kent State's 28-16 victory over Ohio on Saturday, Patton went 5 for 7 and scored 6 runs. It's the first time a Golden Flash player has scored six runs in one game since April of 1992.
The Golden Flashes continue to be nationally ranked. They made their first appearance in the Rivals.com rankings coming in at #25. KSU moved up four sports in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper rankings to #21 while also improving two spots in the latest Baseball America Rankings. Kent State will return to action on Wednesday with a doubleheader at Duquesne.
