Kent State baseball headed to Indiana to play Kentucky in NCAA Regionals

By Ryan Lewis Published: May 28, 2012

After traveling to California and Texas the last two years for the NCAA Championship Regionals, the Kent State baseball family can finally stay closer to home after drawing the No. 3 seed in the "Gary Regional" in Indiana.

The Golden Flashes' seed was announced live on ESPNU's selection show Monday afternoon. Players, coaches, family members and fans gathered at the Water Street Tavern in downtown Kent to take in the show.

A few cheers were offered after KSU wasn't selected to go to Eugene, Oreg. or Palo Alto, Calif, before the bar exploded when Kent State flashed across the screen as the No. 3 seed. KSU will play No. 2 seed Kentucky in Gary, Indiana Friday at noon. The bracket's No. 1 seed, Purdue, will play Valparaiso.
