Kent State falls to South Carolina 4-1, eliminated from CWS
Kent State's improbable run through the College World Series ended in a blur Thursday afternoon in the Golden Flashes' 4-1 loss to two-time defending champion South Carolina.
Kent State (47-20) drew first blood against SC pitcher Michael Roth on Sawyer Polen's RBI-single in the second inning, but couldn't muster a hit against Roth the rest of the way. South Carolina scored four unanswered runs in the second and third innings to pull away against pitcher Tyler Skulina.
