By Ryan Lewis Published: July 28, 2013

Former Kent State nose tackle and captain Colin Ferrell is the fifth new hire of the summer, as head coach Paul Haynes has brought him in as a defensive quality coach.

Ferrell was a First Team All-Mid-American Conference selection as a senior before signing as a non-drafted free agent with the Indianapolis Colts. He then spent four years as a high school football coach. Per a release from KSU, he'll primarily deal with the defensive line.

The other four new hires joining him on the staff: Eron Hodges, who has been named a graduate assistant; Joe Hensel, who will serve as an offensive graduate assistant focusing on the offensive line; Kevin Hyland, a quality control coach who will spend time with the wide receivers and JD Lumley, now the video coordinator.
