After a flurry of reports all day surrounding Kent State's Darrell Hazell and Purdue's head coaching vacancy, Hazell will in fact take over as Purdue's next head coach.
Hazell told the hosts of Big Time Sports on 1350 AM at 5:30 p.m. today that he had not accepted the job. Four hours later, he's no longer the coach of the Golden Flashes.
Cincinnati's Butch Jones turned down the Boilermakers earlier on Tuesday, and Purdue turned its full attention to Hazell.
Purdue went 6-6 this past season and is set to play is set to play Oklahoma State in the Heart of Dallas Bowl on New Year's Day.
