Kent State RB Flowers to transfer

By admin Published: December 7, 2009

Dave Carducci from the Record Courier is reporting at his blog that Kent State junior running back Andre Flowers is expecting to transfer to another school for his senior season.

Running back Andre Flowers has informed Kent State of his intention to transfer to another school for his senior season.

Flowers was the early choice to take over as the Flashes primary ball-carrier when star Eugene Jarvis was lost to injured in the second week of the 2009 season, but a shoulder injury kept him from moving up the depth chart.

After the emergence of sophomore Jacquise Terry and true freshman Dri Archer emerged at running back, Flowers ended up finding little playing time once he was healthy. He finished the season with 180 yards on 59 carries and a 3.1 per-carry average that was more than a yard less than both Terry and Archer.  If Jarvis is granted another year by the NCAA and returns in 2010, Flowers would probably enter the season as the team’s fourth-string running back.  According to a KSU source, Flowers is hoping to end up at a school from a list that includes Murray State,  Tennessee-Chattanooga, Tennessee-Martin, Western Kentucky, Coastal Carolina and Memphis. All of those schools are closer to Flowers’ hometown of Ridgely, Tenn.
