Northeast Ohio native Maurer new SID at KSU

Lyndsey Maurer has been named Kent State's Director of Athletic Communications, joining the Golden Flashes after spending the last six years at Brown University as an assistant director of athletic communications.

Morrow retires as KSU's women's golf coach

Mike Morrow announced his retirement as the head coach of the Kent State University women's golf team on Thursday, after leading the Golden Flashes to 14 Mid-American Conference championships in as many years of the program's existence.

KSU can't stave off rival Akron despite 10-point halftime lead

Kent offers Cincinnati linebacker for 2014 class

The Kent State football program reportedly made scholarship offers to multiple players in the 2014 class in the Cincinnati area on Wednesday, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

The Golden Flashes offered Withrow linebacker Reggie Howard (6-4, 225), Colerain wide receiver Trevon Hudson (6-3, 220), La Salle wide receiver Derek Kief (6-5, 190), Middletown tight end Chance Sorrell (6-6, 250) and Lakota East offensive lineman Jarrett LaRubbio (6-5, 265).

Final day of leisure in Mobile for Flahses finds team visit to Battleship Memorial Park

On Saturday, the day before the 14thAnnual GoDaddy.com Bowl, Kent State players and coaches enjoyed the spoils of a fun day of tourist activities. Without any practice left to worry about, the Flashes arrived at Mobile’s Battleship Memorial Park in a bus caravan with a police escort around 11 am CST.

It’s been rumored for weeks that when former Kent State coach Darrell Hazell heads to Purdue after Sunday’s bowl game he’s planning on taking a few coaches from his staff at Kent State along with him.

Recent rumors swirling have the following headed to Indiana with Hazell: defensive coordinator Jon Heacock, linebackers coach Marcus Freeman, running backs coach Jafar Williams, strength & conditioning coach Doug Davis and director of operations Tommy Cook.

Kent State bowl swag not bad

Athletes always enjoy getting anything for free, so there’s no doubting KSU players’ excitement over the bowl swag they’ve been receiving this week as part of the GoDaddy.com Bowl.

Every day since arriving in town, the players have been given a gift; upon arrival on Wednesday they were given Soul Republic headphones sporting the KSU logo. Thursday’s gift was a large leather garment bag with the GoDaddy.com logo.

Former speakers at the GoDaddy.com bowl Mayor’s Luncheon have included former NBA great Charles Barkley, former NFL quarterbacks Joe TheismannTerry Bradshaw and Phil Simms and NASCAR beauty Danica Patrick. So, it was a bit odd when down home comedian Larry the Cable Guy was picked to serve as this year’s bowl speaker Friday afternoon.

KSU football notebook - Day 2 in Mobile

After a two-hour practice Thursday morning at the University of South Alabama's practice field, 11 Kent State players visited with kids at Mobile's USA's Children's and Womens' Hospital as part of immersing themselves in the city's culture this week. The sick children received gifts and took pictures with the Flashes players and coaches.
