Kent To Play In National Spotlight
The Golden Flashes will see a little extra limelight this season, as their non-conference game against Penn State University on Sept. 18 will be nationally televised on either ESPN or ESPN 2.
The game will take place at what might be the loudest stadium in all of college football, Beaver Stadium, at noon. A very interesting experiment using the relocation of seats to amplify the noise made by fans will further amplify that home-field advantage.
The Big Ten announced kickoff times for most of the non-conference games involving their programs, hence the early announcement. Game times for the rest of Kent State's football games will be released later in the summer.
The Nittany Lions won the last meeting between the two schools, 32-10, in 2003. In the Capital One Bowl on New Year's Day, Penn State defeated Louisiana State University 19-17 and garnered a top-10 ranking in both the Associated Press and Coaches polls.
