Kent State announced its Mid-American Conference opponents and non-conference dates for the 2014 football season Monday. The Golden Flashes will play six home games and host four MAC opponents in 2014.
MAC East rivals Akron and Ohio will come to Dix Stadium, while East Division foe UMass will make its first trip to Kent. In one of two crossover games with the West, Toledo will be back at Dix Stadium for the first time since 2006.
In its other battle with the West, Kent State will head to DeKalb to take on Northern Illinois. The Flashes will also visit Miami, Bowling Green and Buffalo.
During the season’s second weekend, Kent State will host South Alabama on Sept. 6. The following Saturday, the Flashes head to Columbus to take on Ohio State on Sept. 13. Two weeks later, Virginia hosts Kent State in a first-time meeting between the programs. Army is slated to return to Dix Stadium on Oct. 18.
Kent State also has the following non-conference opponents scheduled: South Alabama Sept. 6 in Kent, at Ohio State Sept. 13 in Columbus and at Virginia Sept. 27 in Charlottesville, Va.
