KSU basketball to host BracketBusters game, honor 2002 "Elite 8" squad

 The Kent State men's basketball team will host the College of Charleston Feb. 18th as part of the 10th annual BracketBusters event.

 The game time is expected to be announced next week.  

The Golden Flashes are 1-1 all-time against Charleston, with the last meeting coming in 2003, a 71-66 Cougars' victory at the M.A.C. Center in the National Invitation Tournament.  

During the game, KSU will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the 2002 NCAA "Elite 8" team. At halftime, former Golden Flashes’ All-American Antonio Gates and others from the team that produced the best record in Mid-American Conference history will be honored.  

Kent State is 14-6 overall and 4-3 in the MAC. Charleston, of the Big South Conference, is 12-9, 4-6 in the South Division. 

Kent State is 6-3 all-time in BracketBuster games and one of only 11 programs to have been part of the event since its inception for in 2003.  As part of the agreement all home teams, will play a “return” game at the home facility of their opponent.
