KSU Notes

By admin Published: June 13, 2009

Dave Carducci from the Record Courier checks in today with some news and notes.

-Currently the football program has 64 players on campus to participate in the summer strength and conditioning program.

-The Kent State men's basketball program has seven players on campus for the "Summer I" session of summer school.  The first year players will not be permitted to practice this summer or go on the trip to Italy in late August.  Freshmen-to-be are not permitted to go on the trip.

-Geno Ford isn't exactly thrilled about the new definition of the always difficult block/charge call that officials have to make.

-Men's golfers John Hahn and Brett Cairns have been honored several times in their career at Kent State and that has continued.

Kim Hamilton took 5th place at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.  She tossed the javelin a career best 50.80 meters on Friday.

The Kent State Athletic Department is very proud after eight teams earned a GPA of 3.00 or higher during the spring semester.  Overall the athletic department compiled a 2.96 GPA during the spring to equal KSU's highest semester GPA since 1983 when official records were first kept by the university.
