KSU Notes - September 7

By admin Published: September 7, 2009

While Kent State opened up Thursday night with a victory, its opponent for this Saturday was winning big this past weekend.  Boston College dominated its FCS neighbor Northeastern 54-0.  Boston College's starting quarterback position is still up in the air.  Kent State will kick it off with BC on Saturday afternoon at 2P.M. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN360.com.

The MAC went 3-10 in its opening weekend of play.  Only KSU, Bowling Green and Buffalo were victorious.  Elton Alexander from The Plain Dealer checks in today with his MAC Insider.

For those of you who haven't seen it yet, the men's basketball team recently got some attention from Jeff Goodman, the national college basketball writer from FoxSports.com on his blog.

The Field Hockey team went 1-2 in their first ever games in the state of California this weekend.  The team defeated Pacific on Thursday, before falling to California on Saturday and Stanford on Sunday.

Catharine Marosszeky knocked in a free kick with 31 seconds left in overtime to send the Kent State soccer team to a 1-0 victory on Sunday at Youngstown State.  The team improved to 2-2 and will travel to New Mexico to play in a tournament this weekend.

Recently The Capital Sports Report did an interview with former Kent State third basemen Andrew Davis.  As we told you here at NewsFlashes, Davis currently plays for the Lake Erie Crushers in Avon and his team recently qualified for the Frontier League playoffs.  The team also features former Golden Flashes' Drew Saylor and J.J. Pacella.
