Kent State Flashes
KSU pitcher Gill hit in head with ball
Kent State junior relief pitcher Justin Gill was hit in the head with a line drive late Tuesday during a 3-1 loss to visiting Dusquesne and was taken by ambulance to nearby Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
Kent State officials said Gill, a native of Canton and a standout at Canton South High School, walked off the field under his own power but was then taken to the hospital to be examined for precautionary reasons.
Last season, the 6-foot-3, 205-pound Gill went 4-2 with three saves and a 5.40 ERA in 24 appearances out of the bullpen for the Golden Flashes.
