Kent State’s Dri Archer and Trayion Durham have both named to the Doak Walker Award Watch List,  the award presented annually to the nation’s top college running back.

The lightning and thunder combo make up two of the 63 preseason candidates and are among the candidates for the second consecutive season,  The Golden Flashes are one of nine teams (Louisville, Georgia, TCU, Arizona State, Arkansas, BYU, Wisconsin and Baylor) with two running backs on this season's preseason list.

Named to the Paul Hornung and Maxwell Award Watch Lists earlier this summer, Archer led the nation in yards per carry (9.0) in 2012.  He also led the Flashes with 1,429 rushing yards on 159 carries with 16 of his 23 touchdowns coming on the ground.

Archer and Durham were both named to the All-Mid-American Conference Team as running backs last season, with Durham collecting 1,316 rushing yards on 276 carries with 14 touchdowns.

Semifinalists will be named Nov. 14, and the Doak Walker Award National Selection Committee will cast votes to determine the finalists, who will be announced on Nov. 25.

The committee will cast a second vote beginning on Dec. 2 to determine the recipient.  The winner of the 2013 Doak Walker Award will be announced live on The Home Depot College Football Awards Dec. 12 on ESPN.
