The Kent State football team has a lot to prove this week on the road in Athens in a pivotal MAC East showdown with the Ohio Bobcats. The PD's Elton Alexander writes...
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The good news for Kent State, following its 28-6 victory Saturday over Eastern Michigan, is the Golden Flashes (3-4, 2-1) have proven themselves to be among the best of the many bad football teams in the Mid-American Conference'. Both KSU conference triumphs have come against winless teams -- the EMU Eagles and Miami. What Kent can prove with a road victory this week at Ohio University (5-2, 3-0) is a capability to beat a good team. The difference between KSU and OU in the MAC standings is Bowling Green. The Bobcats beat BG on the road earlier this season, Kent lost to the Falcons at home.
Kent State freshman quarterback Spencer Keith was able to make several big plays, including a 48-yard TD pass to Tyshon Goode. But he also threw two interceptions, giving him five on the season (vs. seven TDs). That is not conducive to beating a good team on the road.
