KSU Sr. F/C Mark Henniger earns MAC Player of the Week honors

Kent State senior forward/center Mark Henniger was named Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week today.

The Massillion-Jackson High School product averaged 13.0 points and 4.7 rebounds as he helped the Golden Flashes improve to 6-1 on the season with a three-games-in-three-days  weekend sweep at the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic subregional hosted by Kent State at the M.A.C Center.

The 6-foot-9, 230-pounder saved his best performance of the week for last, recording a career-best 20 points in just 22 minutes in the Flashes 102-97 victory over Niagara Saturday. He went 6-for-6 from the field and 8-for-8 at the foul line to post a new career scoring mark for the third time in the previous seven days. Just two nights prior, Henniger scored 17 points whilepulling down eight rebounds and blocking two shots in KSU's 72-59 win over Western Carolina in the Classic.


Over the trio of games last week, Henniger shot nearly 77% from the field and was perfect from the free throw line (19-for-19).

On the season, he's averaging 9.3 points and 3.9 rebounds per game while leading the Flashes with a .741 field goal percentage and .926 free-throw percentage.

 Kent State continues its seven-game homestand at the M.A.C. Center Wednesday against Northeast Ohio rival Youngstown State. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
